Ferncroft Kala Rosie had 7 puppies on Saturday, May 16. The puppies were born by c-section. Barkerville Takoda is the sire. Pups were raised in IL and have transitioned to their new families in KY, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY and VT.
Takoda is a 2nd generation Chinook x Tamaskan cross with the Chinook Breed Conservation Program (CBCP). He is a friendly, easy-going guy with a strong muscular build. Kala is a purebred Chinook. Kala is sweet and easy going. She was a great mom. This breeding combines outstanding hip health, strong genetics, solid temperament, and the genetic diversity offered through the CBCP. Takoda and Kala should produce pups that are clear of carrying genes for MRD1, CDDY/IVDD, and Chondrodystrophy.
The puppies will be registered as UKC registration as purebred Chinooks.

Misty, a purebred Chinook, was bred with Amos, a 2nd generation cross in the Chinook Breed Conservation Program (CBCP) in early January. It was a successful breeding and Misty delivered 7 puppies on March 9. Their offspring will be eligible to become registered purebred Chinook with the United Kennel Club (UKC).
Misty loves to play with the youngest puppy in her home (Quimbo). Her personality is large and gregarious (in a good way). She is a comedian, very friendly and outgoing. Misty loves all people but especially children. Amos best pal is a cat and he loves his human "grandma." Amos is friendly with other animals he meets. He is an energetic and fun-loving boy who loves running and swimming.
This was a first litter for both Misty and Amos.

2025: Barkerville X Harriet Blue - Ferncroft Tormund Evan
Blue x Tormund pups were born in May 2025. Blue, a 2nd generation cross and Tormund, an UKC purebred Chinook, produced a 3rd generation of crossbred Chinooks have been registered as UKC purebred Chinooks.
Tormund's size, confident personality, and low risk for anasarca combined Blue's independence, athletic, and outstanding family hip health for a beautiful pairing. Both had strong results from Embark we saw that impact the next generation. Their COIs range from 25%-31% and all pups are clear of MRD1, IVDD, and dwarfism. The puppies had their vet appointment earlier in the week. All were healthy and got their first vaccines. Toby and Tuck's testicles descended by 8 weeks - happy news.
Blue and Tormund's puppies have settled with their forever families in ME, NH, VT, MA, OR, and CA. Two pups had cross country flights, 3 had drives within New England, while one walked from the living room to the kitchen.

2024: Barkerville X Sweet Maple Mae - Desert Sol Arlo Baci
Maple, a 2nd generation cross and Arlo, an UKC purebred Chinook welcomed the arrival of 6 pups in December 2024. These 3rd generation pups from the CBCP were registered as UKC purebreds in December 2025.
We sought a male who brought slightly more size, a confident personality, low risk for anasarca, and genetically clear of IVDD/CDDY. Arlo is all that and more. He's never met a person he doesn’t like. Maple brings a sweetness, beautiful conformation, excellent hip ratings, and outstanding hip ratings among her ancestors and siblings. Their people consistently describe them as sweet pups, who love people, and who have a touch of mischief.
