Maple and Arlo's puppies were born across an 8 hour period from December 9 to 10 in 2024. Maple, a 2nd generation cross and Arlo, an UKC purebred Chinook, produced these 3rd generation of crossbred puppies who are eligible for UKC purebred registration.

We sought a male who brought slightly more size, a confident personality, low risk for anasarca, and genetically clear of IVDD/CDDY. Arlo is all that and more. He's never met a person he doesn’t like. Maple brings a sweetness, beautiful conformation, excellent hip ratings, and outstanding hip ratings among her ancestors and siblings. Their people consistently describe them as sweet pups, who love people, and who have a touch of mischief.

Sylvie is a sweetheart who wants to say hello to every person she meets - the mail lady is her favorite. And young kids. And her dog trainer, who enthusiastically awaits Sylvie being bred. Sylvie, in turn, adds joy to their day. Sylvie loves going to the dog park to play with her dog friends, chasing and being chased, and a bit of wrestling. Sylvie is a snuggler, taking time to snuggle with each of the household members for a spell each night. Her family is crazy for her.

Able is smart, sweet, and agile. He likes to play fetch, tug of war and keep away. Able spends occasional days at a law office and can settle into a day of napping while there. Quimbo has a sweet personality. In a dogsledding presentation at an elementary school, he impressed everyone with his sweetness. No visit with the family granddaughters is complete without Quimbo. His mischievous side includes hiding clothes and slippers in his kennel. Quimbo has nice movement and balance.

​“Bowie is our sweet rascal.” He was his “girls” with dozens of kisses, then runs off with their toys! He is fast and agile, so the girls set up agility courses for him inside and out. He loves this! He also loves cuddling, playing keep away, snacking on bully sticks and carrots, and playing with his cow toy! He walks politely on leash and loves to swim. And he loves his big Chinook brother, Blue.

Juniper loves living with her momma Maple, grandpa Brud, Auntie Moon, and great Auntie Dirigo. Like siblings, she is sweet and mischievous. She has a lot of energy and LOVES to play and run. She attended a Meet the Chinook event at Maine Historical Society and was adored by attendees. While a bit shy, she greeted the people and loved the other Chinook. She is smart and learns fast. I still sing to her - Isn't She Lovely? and Jennifer Juniper.

River is a beautiful girl with a strong and lean body. She is fast and agile. River enjoys life with her people and big Chinook brother, Dawson. She and Dawson play, and Dawson lets her know when he’s done! River is well known across town with regular visits to the bank, the post, and the fire department. She loves everyone she meets. Because she is near, River and Juniper have visited a few times. After some initial challenges with housebreaking and settling in crate, River has accomplished both of these things.
Barkerville X Harriet Blue - Ferncroft Tormund Evan

Blue x Tormund pups were born May 4-5, 2025. Blue, a 2nd generation cross and Tormund, an UKC purebred Chinook, produced a 3rd generation of crossbred Chinooks who will be eligible for UKC purebred registration.

Tormund's size, confident personality, and low risk for anasarca combined Blue's independence, athletic, and outstanding family hip health for a beautiful pairing. Both had strong results from Embark we saw that impact the next generation. Their COIs range from 25%-31% and all pups are clear of MRD1, IVDD, and dwarfism. The puppies had their vet appointment earlier in the week. All were healthy and got their first vaccines. Toby and Tuck's testicles descended by 8 weeks - happy news. ​

Blue and Tormund's puppies have settled with their forever families in ME, NH, VT, MA, OR, and CA. Two pups had cross country flights, 3 had drives within New England, while one walked from the living room to the kitchen.

Cora is curious and feisty in the best sense of the term. She’s scrappy and tough and in another karmic iteration would make a great rugby player. She is so dang cute with that lighter coat and her inclination to cuddle. ​

Cora arrived in VT, did a bit of exploring and then settled down. Her people describe her as “Independent and clever, she found a cool spot in the asters to nap while I tied up tomatoes in the heat.”

Toby is a lovable pup with a sweet, laid-back temperament. He was one of the first to enjoy a snuggle. He’s also an explorer, sees everything, and was the first puppy to try to breach the whelping box wall. ​

Toby arrived in OR and met big sister Chinook, Song, who loved him and was VERY excited to meet him! She’s been play-bowing to him and very curious. He got to camping on his first weekend at home!

Fitz is kind of a boys-will-be-boys puppy. He's a big pup, enjoys wrestling with his littermates. He shows puppy "fierceness" and the promise of being a strong leader. Fitz is a sweet snuggler who loves being in the midst of a snoozing puppy pile. ​

Tuck is making a new home in Maine, where he is learning about the ocean, sleeping in a crate, having fun with his people, and naping - a lot.

Balashi now lives in MA with folks whose extended family all have Chinooks. Family reunions will bring together 4 households, each with their own Chinook!

Nancy is the most laid back in the litter. She’s an observer, watching everything. She radiates sweetness. With her markings and proud profile, it looks like she is going to grow into a majestic Chinook. Scotia is a beautiful Chinook with a lovely head, proper angulation, nice balance in her body and strong bone.

Scotia will remain home with Blue and their people, keeping their lives busy, full, and joyful. Blue is teaching her about life beyond the whelping box - walks, swims, rolling in stuff...​

​Margaret is quick on her feet and observant. She developed a howl that is ear catching, a sweet, singing sound. Margaret enjoys spending time with humans and loves her mates. Her disposition reveals poise and balance.

Kate flew to her new home in northern CA. Her first day included a walk adventure, “helping” with chores, meeting horses, winning over the other 2 dogs, determining which bed and toys were hers, and claiming that the human was hers, too!
